Pink And Green

Pink and green is a favorite color combination of mine, and when I decided to wear my new green pants, I found myself immediately perusing my closet for a pink shirt. The delicate print and fabric of this top took my outfit in a very different direction than what I was originally thinking, and before I knew it I was swapping out my silver loafers for sky high nude pumps. Playing up the fun colors, I added a colorful wrap watch and bag and finished it off with just a few silver accessories.

Polka Dot Manicure And A Party!

| |

Essie Waltz // Hello Kitty Blueberry

After making my own dotting tools and realizing how easy a polka dot manicure is, I couldn’t wait to try another version. The timing of my weekend manicure conveniently coincided with preparation for the Ladies Night I mentioned in my last post. When discussing manicures to demonstrate, polka dots were an easy choice. They’re everywhere, they feel fresh for spring, and they’re a super easy DIY. I decided on a classic take with a periwinkle base and crisp white dots.

The party was way too much fun not to share, so I was sure to snap a few pics throughout the night. It turns out champagne and DIY nail art is an irresistible combination, and the manicure table stayed packed all night. Pams & Kin provided the polish in everything from pastels to neon to glitter. Content with my manicure, I jumped in and helped a few ladies, and in the process learned how to apply a leopard design thanks to my lovely co-hosts, Parris and Kiri. And, of course, there was a little shopping. I tried to convince myself that it was possible to walk out of Mira Mira without a bag in hand. It’s not. I walked out with a bag containing two pieces that I cannot wait to wear. (Stay tuned!) A big thank you to everyone who came out! And, a special thank you to Mira and Tara of Mira Mira and Parris and Kiri!

You're Invited!

Hello, friends! As you’ve likely heard on Twitter and Facebook, I’m co-hosting Ladies Night tonight at Mira Mira (one of my favorite boutiques in San Francisco) and I would absolutely love to see you there! My lovely co-hosts are Parris and Kiri, the ladies behind nail polish line Pams & Kin, and together we’ll demonstrate three different nail designs. And just in case nail art and champagne wasn’t enough, there will also be a raffle to win nail polish and 10% off everything in the store (excluding jewelry)!

If you’re not in the Bay Area, then be sure to follow the fun on Twitter and Instagram!

The weather in San Francisco has been all over the place, and there were quite a few days of pouring rain before this one. I woke up expecting to see more rain, but much to my delight, the sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Sometimes it can be something as small as an unexpected dose of sunshine to put one in a good mood, and that sentiment is certainly reflected in my choice of pants. There are some pieces in my closet that make it almost impossible to be anything but happy. This pair of pants – with the bold colors and cheerful print – definitely fall into that category. I went for a more relaxed look than the last time I wore them, pairing them with an easy chambray shirt and a new pair of silver loafers. It turns out that sunshine and a new pair of shiny shoes pretty much guarantee a good day!

Mint, Pink, And Rose Gold

| |

Sally Hansen Smooth And Perfect in Sea // Sally Hansen Smooth And Perfect in Satin // Revlon Sparkling

Hi, my name is Santina and I’m addicted to glitter polish. Yes, it was in my last manicure post that I swore it off for the sake of healthy nails (removing it usually removes a few layers of my nails along with the polish). But a few days later, I found myself digging through my ever-growing collection of polish only to pull out this rose gold glitter top coat. Glitter is the crack of the manicure world, I tell you! It seems I just can’t paint my nails without adding glitter to at least one or two fingers. This combination of such a pale pink and mint green was begging for a little somethin' somethin' – glitter it was! Acknowledging that I have a problem is the first step, right? (Maybe it's also the time to come clean with the fact that my current manicure is just a variation of this one...with glitter.)

The Search Is Over

I forgot to introduce you to my new go-to black pumps when I last wore them. Forgive me. After my last pair died, I set out on a serious search for the perfect pair. It’s amazing how difficult it can be to find something so seemingly simple. Black pumps. Should be easy, right? It wasn’t. I started to consider splurging on a pair, but I just wasn’t sure if something as basic as black pumps was worth a splurge. Sure, they’d pass my price per wear rule: black pumps go with everything; I’d obviously wear them often. But, at the same time, when it comes to splurging, I like to save it for something special. Something that makes me feel like if I don’t buy it that instant it will be gone forever and nothing will ever be like it again… You never feel that way? Really? Oh, me neither…just kidding. Anyhow, I decided against splurging and continued searching. The search came to an end when this pair arrived at my door – a birthday present my best friend! I love them.

An Oxford And A Sweatshirt

Sweatshirt: Laugh Cry Repeat (Mira Mira)
Shirt: H&M
Jeans: Levi’s (an old pair donated to a DIY project by my boyfriend)
Shoes: Chelsea Crew (Shoe Biz)
Ring: Surface To Air (Shotwell)

Bag: See by Chloe (a gift)
Sunglasses: Ray Ban (Saks)

When I saw “7 Fresh, New Ways To Wear An Oxford Shirt” on Refinery29, I thought I had nothing to learn about button downs. We all know that I wear them constantly and in what I thought was every way imaginable. Was it possible that I could be wearing them with even more? Bam! First slide: a sweatshirt over an oxford. Why didn’t I think of that? For my spin on this combination, I layered this cutoff sweatshirt over a sheer, pale pink oxford. I absolutely adore this look; it felt edgy but soft at the same time.

The jeans were the result of a DIY project from a few weeks ago. I was inspired by Beth of B. Jones Style and her DIY Acne Pop Trash jeans, so I used her post as a guide to slashing and shredding this pair. I’m a bit of a DIY newbie; I mostly stick to DIY manicures, which isn’t much of a DIY at all, is it? I’m really just saying, “I painted my own nails”. It took me hours to slash up these jeans, and after one wash, they weren’t quite as I had hoped. This isn't easy! A bit more slashing and another wash should do the trick, but in the meantime, I decided to wear them. And, I actually got quite a few compliments on them…

Fresh In Floral Denim

Shirt: Trouve (Nordstrom)

Bag: L.A.M.B. (Nordstrom Rack)
Bracelets: Anthropologie and BCBG Max Azria
Ring: Surface To Air (Shotwell)
Watch: c/o TOKYObay
Sunglasses: Ray Ban (Saks)

I have to admit that it made me smile when I started seeing floral denim everywhere (and if you read as many style blogs as I do, you know that I mean everywhere) because I bought these last winter. I love when I find perfectly on trend items hanging in my closet. Floral denim? Check! Now if only I could find the perfect pair of nude sandals...

After what feels like weeks of bright outfits and mixed prints, my trusty white button down was a welcomed return to simplicity. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but there are few things that I love more than a good white shirt. There's something fresh about them, like a clean slate with endless possibilities, which is very much how I feel about spring, making it a perfect compliment to one of the season's biggest trends. On the note of trends, how adorable is my new pastel watch? The kind people over at TOKYObay invited me into their showroom to check out watches, meet the adorable office pup, and take home one of my choice. And, a tough choice it was! I wanted to take them all home, but in the end I couldn’t resist the mint green and baby blue strap of this wrap style (the Dopio). It’s perfect for spring!

Varsity Sweater

Sweater: Brooklyn Circus (borrowed from the boyfriend)
T-shirt: American Apparel
Jeans: J Brand (Nordstrom)
Shoes: Boutique 9 (ModCloth)
Necklaces: Monserat De Lucca (ModCloth) and Marc by Marc Jacobs
Watch: Michael Kors (Nordstrom)
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (a gift)
Sunglasses: Prada (a gift)

These photos mark my valiant return to outfit photos! I won’t lie; it’s been a rough few weeks and it showed in my outfit choices. It wasn’t pretty. I was lucky to have had enough photos to make it through, but it's time to get back to it. Wearing my boyfriend’s clothes is always comforting, and I’ve had my eye on this cardigan for a while. I love the varsity vibe; it’s a little sporty and a little preppy at the same time. I stayed true to that with a v-neck tee and lace up wedges. I finished off the look with a few necklaces and my go to black bag.

Crazy For Cap Toes

Crazy For Cap Toes
Crazy For Cap Toes by stylebysantina Clockwise from top left: Marc by Marc Jacobs, $195 //  Carven, $665 // Bloch, $140 // Giuseppe Zanotti, $595 // Reiss, $245 // Kate Spade flat shoes, $225 // Stuart Weitzman, $365

It’s true; I’m crazy for cap toe shoes! It all started when I first spotted those absolutely gorgeous Stuart Weitzman Mary Jane pumps (I actually prefer them in mint green) and has spun completely out of control. I have been scouring the internet to find the perfect pair, and there are endless options: flats and pumps, neon and pastel, patent and textured leather. Clearly, I found way too many options, so I thought I’d share a few here. Of course, some of these are a bit too big of a splurge for me at the moment, but a girl can dream, right? Though I have had my eye on those cork flats with the neon pink toe…might have to click “buy” soon!

Are there any shoe trends that you’re obsessing over?

Spots And Stripes

Sweater: Zara

Necklace: BCBG Max Azria
Bracelets: Stella & Dot and Marc by Marc Jacobs
Watch: Michael Kors (Nordstrom)

Sunglasses: Ray Ban (Saks)

This outfit makes me laugh because it's pretty much the exact opposite of what I intended to wear. I set out to wear something conservative, and before I knew it I was in spots and stripes and pink and green…not to mention my red hair. (I think it’s safe to say I’ve moved past my “I can’t wear certain colors with red hair” stage.)

I knew I wanted to wear this skirt and had planned to pair it with a button down. But, as it so often happens when I plan an outfit, I wasn’t happy once I executed the plan. I’m an emotional dresser; I can’t plan what I’ll want to wear in three days because I have no idea how I’ll feel that day! (Am I alone here? Are you all planners?!?) For whatever reason, I was determined to mix prints, so the button down went back into my closet and my conservative outfit out the window. I’m usually not so bold when it comes to mixing prints, but since I adore combining pink with  green, these two were a perfect pair. To balance the look, I kept my accessories, shoes and bag simple.

These photos were taken a few weeks ago when my boyfriend and I headed to Monterey to visit the aquarium. (Those of you who follow me on Instagram might remember my photos of jellyfish, sharks and sand dollars.) It might be a bit nerdy, but I absolutely love aquariums and the Monterey Bay Aquarium is among the nicest I’ve visited. If you live in the Bay Area and haven’t been yet, I definitely recommend it!

With a two hour drive and hours of walking ahead of me, my main goal was comfort. While I’d usually reach for boyfriend jeans, I just felt like wearing a dress. This sweater dress is easily one of the most comfortable pieces in my closet, and it was just warm enough to allow me to go without a jacket - perfect! Feeling too cheerful for black tights, I decided on a purple pair but still craved more color. I wasn’t sure if these loafers would be garish against the purple tights but I quite like the combination. What do you think? Are bold tights best suited to matching or neutral shoes?

Swan Lake

How amazing is the print on this dress? It’s like a celestial sea with swans, and I absolutely love it. I anxiously waited for it to become available and pounced as soon as it was. Once it arrived, I decided to tuck it away for the perfect occasion – my birthday! (These photos are a few weeks old now.) I actually spent the day hiking with my boyfriend, but I was sure to snap a few photos of what I wore out to dinner that night. In all honesty, I had to get ready rather quickly to catch the light, so I didn’t think much while putting this together. With such a bold print, I kept the rest of the look subdued. I stuck with the neutral palette of the dress - adding black tights and shoes and a neutral bag – and simple accessories.
