What is there to say about this one? It’s my weekend go to, and I’ve featured variations of it many times before (like here and here). A basic outfit of wardrobe staples – my boyfriend jeans and chambray button down – is perfect for showing off bold accessories like chevron shoes and a statement necklace. I’ve actually worn this necklace a few times but this is its first appearance on the blog. I am completely smitten with the bright pink crystals. Aren’t they fun?

I’m a firm believer in the “look good, feel good” philosophy, and I was feeling pretty damn good as I left my apartment in this outfit. You know that feeling when you just adore what you have on and think absolutely nothing could ruin your day? Well, that is exactly how I felt on this morning but I could not have been anymore wrong. I guess if I’m going to have a really bad day, I might as well look good, right?
Sometimes I wake up knowing exactly what I want to wear; other days I pensively stare into my closet, coffee in hand, waiting for something to call to me. I knew I wanted to wear this shirt from the moment I opened my eyes. It is definitely one of my absolute favorites and it had been a while since I wore it last. The outfit came together quickly thanks to a few of my favorite fall purchases. Of course, I didn’t realize it was going to rain when I got dressed; a chiffon skirt would not have been my first choice had I checked the weather report, so please ignore those spots!
One's Not Enough

I acknowledge that my nails posts have been less frequent these days. I fully intended it to be a weekly feature, but after a few failed manicure attempts I lost motivation. After the last failure, my boyfriend asked if one color wasn’t good enough anymore. It made me laugh but it also made me realize that I didn’t need to spend hours doing my nails. Maybe one color was enough? So, I painted my nails this very blue color and rocked it until it started to chip. I love the color, so I decided to use it again, this time for a post. Still bitter about all those wasted hours spent on manicures that were removed within fifteen minutes of application, I decided to keep it simple and add a multicolor glitter to just one finger on each hand. It turns out one isn’t enough anymore.

I’ve had my eye on this shirt ever since the day my boyfriend bought it. It is the perfect plaid shirt. The classic colors and print remind me of preppy New England roots, which is funny considering that at one point in my life, all I wanted to do was rebel against those roots. While my seventh grade self would have totally worn this, my tenth grade self would have wanted to punch the girl wearing this in the face. Ah, how times have changed… It seems I’ve once again embraced my preppy tendencies but try to keep it modern by adding unexpected or quirky touches, like rolling up the sleeves of this shirt to reveal the contrasting lining and layering on a bird skull necklace. Is there any style from your past that you’ve loved, hated and now love again?

We’ve seen quite a few bows here on Style by Santina: there’s been a bow tie, shoes with bows, a sparkly bow necklace, just to name a few. When I slipped on this shirt – with not only a bow print but also a tie at the neck – I had to exercise serious restraint not to pile on a million more bows, but I did allow the headband. Who could resist this headband? It’s adorable!
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ve probably already heard that I paid a visit to the hair salon this weekend. Since I generally post outfits a week after I wear them, you won’t see the new and improved ‘do until next week so I thought I’d give you all a little sneak peek! I didn’t do anything drastic (I’ve decided to grow it out a little) but I did go with a silvery shade of white.

I’m completely smitten with fall. If I have to experience seasons – I’ll always prefer an endless summer – then fall is by far my favorite. Since I was sitting on a beach, working on my tan with a margarita in hand last year at this time, I think I forgot how much I love everything about fall – the crisp air, that feeling of a fresh start, wearing a blanket disguised as a chic sweater – I just can’t get enough!
I bought this sweater months ago and had been waiting for cooler weather to finally wear it. What prompted me to do so was not only the rather chilly morning, but also the fact that my coffee maker broke that morning. Imagine my devastation as I went to pour myself a much-needed cup only to realize that there was none…and that there would be none before work and, even worse, before my bus ride to work. This snuggly cardigan fit my sleepy mood while a bag bright enough to wake the dead was a decent substitute for caffeine.

While this dress has only made its way to Style by Santina once before, it’s definitely one of my standbys – an easy piece that never fails to make me fell pulled together and chic…and it has pockets. What’s not love?
I have to admit that it’s always difficult for me to choose to wear something that isn’t necessarily flattering, and I couldn’t really decide how I felt about this combination of tights and wedges. I generally wear black tights with black shoes to extend my legs, so this clash of black and gray irked me. Paired with booties that hit above the ankle, I just felt a bit stumpy legged all day. But, I’m trying to remind myself that fashion isn’t always about what’s flattering; it’s also about being interesting or unexpected. What about you? Are you afraid to make the unflattering choice?

Confession: these are not the shoes I was wearing when I left my apartment. Between getting dressed and taking outfit photos, I did a bit of shoe shopping and couldn’t resist wearing these booties right out of the store. I’ve pretty much been wearing them ever since… But, the shoes aren’t the only things I’m smitten with; I can’t get enough of this skirt. The juxtaposition of the gun print and the delicate color and shape immediately won my over – it reminds me of a badass ballerina. And, really, who doesn’t like to feel like a badass ballerina every now and again?
