Cutting Through The Fog With Color

| |

Blazer: H&M
T-shirt: American Apparel
Pants: Zara
Belt: Forever 21
Necklace: Banana Republic
Ring: Surface To Air (Shotwell)
Bag: L.A.M.B. (Nordstrom Rack)
Shoes: Pour La Victoire (Gilt)

As I stared out the window with bleary eyes to see that my building was engulfed in fog, I knew it was a day for bold color. I immediately reached for my blue pants (last seen here) and these colorful platforms – a combination bright enough to not just cut through the fog but also wake me up. I often talk about how the way I want to feel factors into my choices just as much (and often more) than how I feel at the moment. This look is just another example. This cheerful color combination made me feel, well, cheerful.

I kept it neutral on top with a comfortable v-neck and my new favorite blazer. I had been on the hunt for a camel blazer for a while before I found this one at H&M. It was exactly what I wanted; the color is perfect and I love the boxy shape. This piece will transition well into fall. I see myself wearing it with trousers in rich colors and a ladylike bag…that I might have already bought and you might see soon…

That's definitely a great blazer and it will certainly transition well to fall but I'm dying over those Zara pants! I've been coveting a pair all summer but held to my no shopping ban and didn't buy any but I'm really regretting that now.

Thanks, Kristy! The lapels are definitely what sold me on this blazer!

Don't regret it! Your self-restraint is impressive! Besides, it doesn't seem like the bold pants trend is dying any time soon. There's still time for you. How long is your ban, by the way?

Thanks, Becca. This is one of my favorite pairs of shoes, and I really don't know why I've waited so long to break them out!

Thanks, Mel (and thanks for sharing on Twitter)! I loved this outfit, too. It really did put me in the best mood - don't you love outfits like that?

Someday I am going to have you write a query to find how many times I have said "I love it" in a comment here.  But I DO!

I want colored pants, but I think I look ridiculous in them.  You'll have to make me buy some next time we are shopping together.

You look fab.

Santina! I adore your blog and of course your, style! You make me want to return to the glory of short hair! Funny, I just purchased the vest version of that camel blazer you have on, and those polka dot palazzos! Great minds think alike!  Following!

The pop of yellow next to the cobalt is genius, especially since the rest of the outfit is rather neutral.  Just fabulous!

I'm glad that you were able to decide which blue pants to go with today.  I love that you took a grey day and brought your own bright colors.
And that close up of you? That stare could cut class! Hot.

Ha ha! You know, I wavered on including the close up. It felt a bit like a mug shot, but I'm happy you like it!
