Sunshiny Lace

Cardigan: Rodarte for Target
Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Rich & Skinny (Nordstrom)
Shoes: Sam Edelman (Nordstrom)
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Marc by Marc, Boston)
Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Nordstrom)

It seems my feet don’t share my renewed enthusiasm for heels. While I had hoped nine months of nothing but flats and sandals would rejuvenate my feet, it turns out they’re just out of shape. So, I gave ‘em a break and wore flats. I didn't want to, but I had to.

Shoe choice explained, let’s talk about this lace cardigan. After pulling it out of storage, tags still attached, I was determined to wear it soon. It’s not that I don’t like this cardigan; I just think the color was a poor choice for me when I bought it. Let’s think back to my Portland days…I don’t know about you, but all I see is white. Pale as can be and with a white bowl cut, this color was just not flattering, but with darker hair and a tan, I quite like the color. And since light layers seem to be the only way to stay prepared for San Francisco’s finicky weather, I see myself wearing it a lot (or at least until the tan fades). Do you have anything that you hung onto for a while before wearing or are you more the type who buys something and wears it the very next day?

Whenever I eschew heels for longer than a month or so i find that the first time or two back in them is just murder on my feet. Also, I love the Rodarte for Target cardigan - I looked high and low for one of those in my Target stores and came up empty handed...

I am wearing the Marc bag I bought on Tuesday today.  So, ya, I usually wear things right away.

But I know this girl?  She buys really fabulous things then doesn't wear them for years.  Like adorable Marc maryjanes and Sam Edelman boots.  And apparently Rodarte for Target lace cardigans that I forgot she had bought because I bought the nude version and have worn it to death.  :)

It's weird seeing you with all these buildings and cars in the background...

Mostly, I wear new things I buy right away, unless I'm currently doing some goofy project like wearing every dress I own in order, one day after another...

I love the sweater--When your tan fades, I'll take it off your hands! ;)

Let me tell you, that it's just as weird for me to actually be around all those cars and buildings! It's like I just left Mexico and inserted myself into a completely different life...it's really strange.

Why? Do you plan to somehow be tan in Portland?!? Good luck with that, Kate. If I see you in winter and you're tan, the sweater is yours! Ha ha ha.

For me, it depends on the item. Some things I just can't wait to wear and other things need some time in my closet first.

Thanks for commenting, Cynthia!

It's all about light layers here in San Francisco! Even when it's warm, it's really windy so I always find myself wanting to bundle up a little. Not to mention, I'm still getting used to the weather; it's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, I was so hot I could barely stand wearing anything other than a bikini!

Well, thanks for mentioning that, Erin. :)

I knew you'd THINK of the Marc Mary Janes when you read this post, but I didn't think you'd comment about them. Ha ha ha ha. I really need to wear them...I know I do. I think I'm saving them for the last weekend in July. You should be there to witness it in person, don't you think?

Aaaaand, may I remind you that I considered returning the Sam Edelman boots but a certain someone strongly disagreed and insisted I just store them? Hmmm, who was that person? Oh, it was YOU!

"Murder" is a perfect way to desribe it. My feet should be outlined in chalk and roped off with yellow tape right now.

Hello Santina, you are looking absolutely beautiful!! And yes, that lace cardy does look gorgeous with your tan ...loving how you've put this outfit together. As for heels?! Oh my goodness I can rarely wear them, not sure what has happened to me. Old age I suppose. ;-) xx veronika

Your hair looks fabulous! Looks so soft and shiny. How weird would it be if I said I wanted to pet it? Too weird? Ok....I won't say that then...
I usually have an urge to wear new things right away but sometimes it doesnt happen. Like with the dress I'm wearing today... I bought it years ago, and then it was a bit too girly for me. I bought it because I liked girlier styles, and I wanted to wear it but since, at the time, I was always in jeans and a hoodie, I always put it on and took it right back off. It never made it out of the house. And then I gained some weight and it didn't fit. But it still had tags, so I couldnt just throw it out and I'm too unmotivated to try to actually sell the thing, so it just sat in my closet.
Then I kicked my butt into gear and lost all that weight...now the dress fits perfectly! And, since I bought it my style has changed, a lot, so this dress fits in perfectly with the rest of my closet, as well as my life. I know they say to throw things out if you dont wear them or if they dont fit...but I can't tell you how happy I am to have kept the things from my smaller days now that I'm back to my smaller size.

Welcome back to the States, doll! How does it feel to be somewhat settled back now? The lace cardi is gorgeous, and I love it paired with the blue oxford. Looks so sunshiney there, while it's a dull rainy day here!

I love this outfit - the cardigan especially!  I think the flats are perfect!  They kind of match that gorgeous handbag!

I really love the cardigan. I'm the type of person if I don't wear something immediately I'm never going to wear, and I will probably return it if I haven't worn it in the first month of owning it.

I see what your saying about the colour of the cardigan and I think it looks great with the tan and the darker hair. It must be so great to have access to your old wardrobe. I bet you have a tough time decided what to wear...or maybe not:)

What a gorgeous outfit! I really like that cardigan, I understand that it may not go well with certain colorings but it looks great on you :)
