Dress: Victoria’s Secret
Bandeau: Forever 21
Belt: Forever 21 (came with this skirt)
Bangle: H&M
Shoes: Merona (Target)
Clutch: H&M
Sunglasses: Ray Ban (Saks)
Pssst, I have a secret. Don’t tell anyone, but this actually isn’t a dress; it’s a beach cover up! As my time in Mexico comes to an end, I’m feeling rather uninspired as I stare into my limited closet in search of something to wear. When I saw the lovely Laurel of Trophy Boutique transform her already fabulous beach dress into an adorable summertime look, I instantly thought of this cover up, which I had long been planning to wear as a dress.
The first thing I did to take this dress from beach to street (albeit one just by the beach) was swapped the matching belt with this braided black belt. The billowy top and low cut v-neck offered up a good show of my bra if the dress shifted or if I raised my arms even slightly. If I was living in the States I probably would have just thrown on a pretty bra and said, “enjoy the show”, but that’s just not how I roll here so I added this violet bandeau. Teal wedges (the teeniest of heel makes me so happy) satisfied my color craving, so I finished it off with a zebra print bangle, a black mesh clutch and my favorite Ray Bans.
Have you ever incorporated your beachwear, sleepwear, gym wear, or any other "wear" into an outfit? How did you do it?

Ah, I have those Target shoes in black! I love them, but it's a shame I needed a practical black flat, otherwise I would've gotten a more colorful pair.
I love the fabulous colours in your photos. The contrast of the blue dress and the orange backgroud is amazing.

Looks fabulous no matter what it is! Love this colour on you.
xo L.
I'm so jealous of your tan :) The bright blue dress looks perfect with it!
Aren't they great? They're suuuuuuper comfortable and a good alternative to sandals since the cutouts keep my feet cool!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
I couldn't get enough color on this day, and I thought this bright wall was perfect for such a bright outfit. I'm happy you like it!
Thanks, Leah!
As I see it, I have to show off the tan while I can. I give myself two months in San Francisco before I'm white again!
it's sad that your time in Mexico is coming to an end, but you do look great in that cover up/dress. i have a belt just like yours!
I've worn coverups off the beach too...why the hell not?! I wore a short caftan-like tunic with a bikini top underneath + leggings...to the mall. You look superb...that orange wall with your blue dress is incredible.
I have a ton of beach coverups but I have never worn them anywhere significant, mostly just around the house. This is a good idea though, and so I might try to style one of my cover ups when the weather gets warmer. I think you look great in this shade of blue and the orange accent really makes the whole outfit POP. I can't believe you will be leaving Mexico soon, I only just started following! Oh wellies, I'm sure your next adventure will be just as fun :)
I really like it, and I couldn't tell it was just a cover up. I actually have a shirt that is meant to be sleep wear but it's the perfect black shirt. It fits really well, and I wear it all the time.

I love this! The bright dress/tunic/cover-up is awesome. :)
dude. totally looks like a dress! belts are magic sometimes. :)
I really like it, Santina. You busted out something I didn't know you had!!!
OK first of all, this looks perfectly appropriate to wear as a dress. I wear beach things all the time and pretend they're real clothes (shhhh!). Also - All this color. Be still, my heart!! I love this outfit and backdrop.
OMG! The bracelet & clutch is perfect for this ensemble...It works, whether dress, cover up, tunic! I love it! -xxoo

Ohhhh, I bet that black shirt is so comfortable!
V, you are such a fashion rock star! Did you happen to capture this look for the blog and I missed it? Sounds badass!
I wear this belt waaaaay more than I wear the skirt it came with. Don't you love when that happens? "Hello free accessory that I love!" :)
Seriously, magic!
I'm sure I told you I bought a blue cover up, but I don't think I showed it to you. I didn't do a show and tell of my beachwear like I would normally do with a new pair of shoes or Marc dress! Ahhhh, our good ol' days, Erin!
i never would have guessed it's a cover-up--it just looks like an airy tee dress. and you're right--i do love your laid-back style! your blog makes me really really wish for the sun and summertime!
you look absolutely striking in this shade of blue! and your cover-up makes a lovely dress.
you look great in blue and I love your shoes! You're so tan! I'm jealous!
You look so sleek and gorgeous lady! Love these summery looking photos, I wish the weather was just as nice here!
shoes and a purse?? You so fancy. You're already making strides to a city life. I see it. I'm all about dressing up things that weren't made for it. There's nothing better then a white men's undershirt!
xo, Ash
I love the color of your beach dress! I think the blue looks great with your tan, and I agree that those shoes pretty much rule. Woo hoo for beach dresses as day dresses!
I never would have guessed that was a 'cover up'! It's such a cute little day dress, well done :) That color looks so fab on you, btw. And I tried wearing a silk pj shirt as a blouse a few months ago and while I don't know if anyone else noticed, I couldn't stop thinking about it all day! xo
this is sheer perfection. you are looking HAWT!! amazing tan and the color is just perfect on you!!
You glow. And this blue is your color. Love the purple pop peaking out too. And how dare you wear a beach cover up as a dress. I. NEVER.
aaaah gorgeous! I love the hot pink (purple?) tank peeking from underneath the deep-V neckline. I always love shirt dresses for the summer. Easy breezy :) And the belt is the perfect accessory to "glam up" the look. Wait, this "dress" is actually a "cover up"? NO WAAAYYY.. :D
I love everything about this outfit, no one would have ever guessed this was a beach cover up until you told us!
I hope some summer (and sunshine) comes to you soon!
Thanks for commenting!
Thanks, Rachel!
Awww, Ashley, I heart you. When I chose shoes over sandals, I thought to myself, "so fancy"! What a difference a year makes; last year I wouldn't be caught anywhere outside of the gym without a fabulous pair of shoes on my feet!
Oooooh, a silk pj top as a blouse? Sounds like a dream!
Thanks, Carrie! Blushing now... :)
#WOP Dark as all hell and I am straight up jealous. NO FUCKING clue how I found this post.
