Feeling Fancy

Dress: Staring at Stars (Urban Outfitters)
Bracelet: Tasha (Nordstrom)
Shoes: Merona (Target)
Sunglasses: Forever 21

With the countdown well underway, it’s about that time when the boyfriend and I have started planning out our meals. Not only do we want to squeeze in as many yummy meals as possible, but restaurants are also starting to close down as the tourist season has slowed significantly. Once we decided on one of the fancier restaurants in town, I knew I wanted to wear this dress…and once I put it on, I wondered why I hadn’t been wearing it more. I love it.

I’ve worn this dress a few times before but never with the sash tied in front, and I think I might like it better this way. Taking the bow away almost puts the emphasis on the back of the dress, highlighting the amazing print and cut. Sticking to my minimal hot weather style, I added just a pink bangle and teal wedges for a little color. While the boyfriend and I walked to dinner after snapping these pictures, we ran into a few friends (as is inevitable while living in a town this small). I can’t lie; when we were greeted with whistles and raised beers, I felt pretty fancy.

(I’m looking for guest posts for the first or second week of June while I move to San Francisco, find an apartment and a job, adjust to temperatures that are much colder than I’ve felt in a while…you get it. If you’re interested, please email me at stylebysantina(at)gmail(dot)com or use the form on the Contact page. Thanks!)

I can't blame your for wanting to wear that dress every day - the pattern is great! Love the pop-of-color accessories too!

I see your tan and I experience envy.  Girl you are looking amazing!! I love the dress and would be sleeping in it, too.  So pretty.  You better be indulging in mad margaritas and carnitas and everything else...what a ride you've had.  Even more to come :)

I love, love, love the print!

Not only is the print amazing, but this dress also has pockets (although I didn't include any pics that showed them off)! I don't know about you, but I love a dress with pockets!

Thanks for commenting!

I love this dress! I've been on the hunt for the perfect tribal print pieces. This dress is such a cute cut and looks great against your tan skin.

I hope you enjoy your time left in Mexico! Eat and drink everything that will be impossible to recreate and/or find in the US!

 Thanks, Carrie!

Since I don't eat meat, no carnitas for me, but I do need to start drinking more margaritas. It's like the realization that I'm leaving has been a sobering one, and that's just wrong. I should be drinking more than ever right now! Thanks for reminding me...I had clearly lost my head!

Isn't the cut of this dress so flattering? I love it!

That's totally my plan, Natalie! I need to eat as many meals a day as possible because the food here is so good. Even though SF has amazing Mexican food, it just won't be the same!

This dress is fantastic. I'm loving the simplicity of your outfits these days. This dress on it's own is so striking, that you really don't need to jazz it up with anything more than some cute shoes and a bangle. And the print is perfect.

Oh, and I didn't end up buying those shorts from H&M because I didn't have time to try them on, but I plan to go back today and scope it out. Hopefully they fit me as well as they fit you. Shorts and I don't really get along that great :|

Enjoy eating your way through these next couple of weeks!

LOVE this outfit. That dress was positively made for a lovely dinner in sunny Mexico.

Oh my, I wish you the best moving to my home away from home (SF),  This dress is quite beautiful, casual, or dressed up as it wants to be.  The print makes it so chic, and I love the pops of colour you incorporated in the whole ensemble.  Very nice! -xo

Thank you so much! I have to admit that when I realized that my outfits were going to get even simpler as the weather continues to get hotter and hotter, I really thought no one would be interested in my outfit pics. I'm happy to know you still like them!

Shorts and I haven't always gotten along so well, but those H&M shorts are really some of my favorites ever. I hope they work out for you! If they do, maybe we could coordinate a post in which we both style them... :)

It definitely felt good to dress up a little. What made me laugh most about people's reaction to my "fancy" look was thinking about what they'd say if they saw me in something that I actually consider fancy. I don't think they'd recognize me!

Thanks for commenting, Eli!

Thank you! I still haven't found a job or apartment, so I could use all the luck I can get! :)

I think the dress is beautiful Santina, but I can't get over how gorgeous your arms are!  Is that weird?  Sorry.  But you've got such nice color and tone, hopefully you won't have to cover up TOO much in SF!  ;)

Oh, wow - you're moving soon! How exciting. I wanted those exact same shoes in mustard, but my local Target ran out of them within days of getting them in stock, it seems. So cute!

gorgeous! I love the tribal print of your sundress! I really want one!

If it makes you feel better, the shoes are not comfortable. I was surprised; they look like they would be, right? Every time I've worn them, they've torn up my feet!

Moving soooo soon! I can't believe it!

Santina said...

That is not weird at all - I'm totally flattered! Thank you so much!
