Everybody, Everywear: Florals

| |

May 6, 2011

Dress: J. Crew
Belt: Gap
Sunglasses: Forever 21
Bag: Louis Vuitton (vintage)
Sandals (not shown): DV by Dolce Vita (Urban Outfitters)

Having missed out on the Everybody, Everywear fun in the past, I was sure not to this time around, especially since May’s item, florals, was well represented in my limited closet. I won’t lie; I almost wore these shorts again, but then I saw this floral dress and changed my mind. It’s cotton and loose, and I was sweltering as I stood in front of my closet, thinking maybe I should just throw on my floral bikini and call it a day. Seriously friends, May is a scorcher; don’t be surprised if I look a bit sweaty in outfit shots from here on out.

I’ve worn this dress a few times, but this time I decided to tuck the nude straps into the dress, creating the illusion of a strapless dress. What’s that? You still see nude straps? No, no, those are just tan lines! (Despite my efforts to fill them in, I can never seem to get rid of them altogether.) While I tend to pair this dress with pastels, I decided to go with a brown belt, my vintage Louis Vuitton bag, and tan sandals (I swear I wore shoes). I finished it off with a pair of sunglasses and nothing more. The mere thought of a necklace or bracelet made me sweat…

EEEE! Great shots! So nice to see more of the beauty of Mexico in your photos before you head back.

Ugh, every single post you do makes me soooo jealous - what I wouldn't give for a beach right now! Even though I'd have to apply a double layer of my daily SPF +50. :)

This is such a perfect summertime look, I love the sweet floral print with brown & tan accessories. That belt is just the right amount of contrast for the dress - and that bow is so freakin' cute! I'm very much the same way when it comes to dressing for hot weather, I want as little fabric and jewelry to touch me as possible.

Sadly I think I'll have to sit this EBEW out - somewhere along the way my traveling wardrobe morphed into an all-stripes no-florals zone. Ah well, maybe next month!

Santina, I love this last photo of you! Your pose, your smile, the setting - YAY! And you can't really see your tan lines :) I would have never guessed this dress wasn't strapless. I love how comfortable and cool you look even though it is sweltering hot. And you look so pretty in foral. I can't wait for more beach time fun photos while you're still in Mexico.

Dang, you've got a great tan! I guess that's what happens when you live on the beach haha. I can't believe how cute you manage to look despite how hot it probably is there! That's such a cute dress and perfect for the summer

You are such a sexy bitch. Enjoy that sunshine while you can. Soon I we'll be on aqual playing field... As long as you crouch down.

Ha ha. Thanks, Emily!

If you visit SF, I'll even wear flats for you. Considering how much I miss heels, that's quite the offer!

Thanks, Natalie! It takes hard work and dedication to get this tan. Ha ha!

This dress really is perfect for a hot day. I think I might like it even more without the straps - I like to have as little clothing touching my body as possible!

Thanks, Tanvi!

Thanks so much! I think these photos are some of my favorites. I've been eying that tower the whole time we've been here and I'm really happy I finally got some outfit pics on it.

I'm happy you think I look cool here; I was worried the sweat would show in the pictures! Whew, this month is hot!

I love the bow, too! It's my favorite part of the dress...well, that and the pockets! I'm a sucker for dress with pockets.

An all-stripe zone? I liiiiiike the sound of that! One can never have too many stripes!

Thanks, V! These might be some of my favorite outfit shots from Mexico!

Ugh, I want some sunshine. You are so tan. The dress looks awesome on you. I have the opposite problem I have barely any florals in my closet.

I LOVE that dress! It definitely looks better without the straps-draws out the bubble skirt. Loving the brown belt on it as well-it calms down the bow up top and gives it a sleek, chic vibe.

And, wow, you pull off that haircut gorgeously!

Now I can't be happy until I find myself a beach. Never mind the fact that the nearest ocean is a thousand miles away... Love the shades--they go so well with your floral!

I am SO jealous of your sunshine! I had bare legs the other day, and was appalled to see how blindingly white they were. Yikes.

You know, I really don't think of myself as a floral kind of girl so I was quite surprised with all the options I had for this EBEW!

Santina said...

Gracias, amiga!

Santina said...

I think I might like it better without the straps, as well! With my tan lines, the straps just looked too busy, and when it's this hot, uncomplicated is best.

I have a confession, Brittney: I've never lived more than a two hours (by car) from the ocean. I'm a total beach girl!

Thanks for stopping by! I'm heading over to your blog now!

These last eight months have definitely been sweet ones! I'll certainly miss it!

Love your tanned skin here. The floral dress is so appropriate, eh. The bag and the belt just add to the very flattering look. Wow!
