Tamale Break

April 8, 2011

T-shirt: J. Crew
Shorts: Forever 21
Shoes: Merona (Target)
Necklace: Forever 21

Taking outfit photos on this particular evening took a bit longer than usual, thanks to an overzealous security guard and my favorite vendor of tamales. Apparently the boyfriend and I are quite the suspicious pair; we drew the unwavering attention of a security guard for every single photo (and it takes a lot of photos for me to find a few that I like). As I so often do when I feel uncomfortable, I found myself laughing, only to then hear the security guard laughing. I’d laugh; he’d laugh; I’d laugh; he’d laugh…over and over again. Just as I thought I felt too awkward to carry on, along came the woman who sells my favorite tamales on the beach. Sure, I was on my way to dinner, and, yes, I had already eaten two tamales earlier in the day, but I couldn’t resist. I love tamales!

beautiful lady! it's been far too long since i've had real, homemade tamales. i also kind of wish i had an excuse to dress like i lived at the beach every day. the print on your shorts is just perfect!

Those tamales look absolutely divineee. I recently had my first one and yes, they are so delicious!
Your shorts are the epitome of spring brights - I love the mixed colors and geometrics.. can't believe they're from Forever! The beach looks beautiful, too!

I am totally in love with these shorts! I picked them up back in February when I was in Portland for a weekend, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have them. You know, when I moved to Mexico, I wasn't in the beachy mindset yet, but when I had a chance to shop several months later, printed shorts were at the top of my list!

Thanks, Leah! It's hard not to be happy when living on a beach. I looooooove the ocean!

Mmmm, tamales are amazing; I'm happy you had a chance to try one! Since I don't eat meat, I usually have ones that are stuffed with fresh cheese and chilis - delicious!

I was pretty excited when I saw these shorts at Forever 21! I wished they had them in more prints, actually, but no luck. Thanks, Marissa!

Aaaah! Ok, first of all: this whole look is summer perfection. I love the standout necklace and shorts paired with a cool white tee and flats - it is a killer combination (and set off to a T by that enviable tan!). Second of all: NOW I AM SO HUNGRY FOR TAMALES. I had no idea moving to Europe would mean giving up Mexican food - had I thought about that before leaving, I might honestly have reconsidered. There is a taco-shaped hole in my heart!

Beautiful photographs! I absolutely love your shorts and that necklace is such a statement piece. Yes for tamales! I could eat them everyday and be so very content :-)

I like the outfit, and that does sound quite awkward. That tamale makes me want to book a trip to Mexico right now.

Thanks so much, Emily!

Mexican food is right up there with Italian and Thai for my favorite, and I'm happy to know that moving to San Francisco from here won't mean leaving behind all my tasty favorites! I feel for you!

Well, you sure put me in my place, Lynzy! :) I'm happy spring is finally making its way to you - enjoy!

That necklace! Those shorts! Your tamales! I am the same way. Shove a tamale near me and I will eat it. Hunger has nothing to do with it.

Now IIIIIII want a tamale!! Damn you. Santina. You look so fancy, with your shoes on, and your big statement necklace and your peirced nose. I see that city Santina is starting to flex her style muscles again. And I like it.

I just can't turn down a tamale. I tried a really sweet corn tamale recently; it's a breakfast tamale, no salsa, nothing. It was delicious. I think they should also be sold as dessert tamales!

Thanks, Nnenna!

I almost bought those shorts but they felt too short on me. Seeing how cute they look on you makes me really wish I had pulled the trigger!
