Sweater: H&M
Short: H&M
Necklace: Sloan Boutique (Portland, OR)
Sunglasses: Ray Bans
Sandals (not photographed): DV by Dolce Vita (Urban Outfitters)

Let me start out by declaring my love for this outfit: I love it. I bought these shorts and this sweater while I was visiting Portland at the end of February, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the day I could wear it. Some of you may remember quite a bit of complaining I did the last few months about struggling with a tropical skin issue (ahhhh, life in the tropics isn’t just sun, waves and margaritas after all). My embarrassment of such a visible ailment held me back from wearing it immediately, but I am happy to say that while my skin isn’t perfect, it’s looking good enough to empower me to break free of my shrouds. When the boyfriend and I planned a date night, I knew what I was going to wear: this outfit.

I bought these pieces as an outfit, loving the mix of textures and ultra soft colors. I tried it on pretty much as you see it here except I was too lazy to take my black tights off and decided to throw on the booties I was wearing that day, just for fun. Let me tell you that the shorts looked adorable with tights and heels, so expect to see them that way once I find myself in the cooler temperatures of San Francisco. Actually, I’ve been daydreaming of all the ways I can remix these shorts both here and when I’m reunited with my closet in a few months. I hope you like them, because I think you’ll be seeing a lot of them.

It’s not often that I buy an entire look from one store, in one stop. I tend to see one piece that I have to have, knowing that I can easily work it into my closet or that I need to keep shopping. How about you? Are you a one stop shopper or do you like to spread the shopping fun?

I actually don't really like shopping. It's more like a have to than a want to. My idea of a relaxing does not involve shopping. It's stressful for me, which is probaly why I frequent the same shops over and over. I know I can go there and get something I need & like. So I guess in that respect I am kind of a one stop shopper (Anthroplogie & Madewell much?). It's just easier for me that way.

That top looks so comfy.

I just don't know where to begin. The beach? The glowing sun? The obvious warmth? Adorable shorts? Shirt I've been eying at H&M? Jealous of it ALL!

Love it! I'm actually jealous of the weather, but I'll put my feelings aside and like the outfit anyways. I'm especially liking the sweater. I've been loving light open weave sweaters lately. I'm trying my hardest to abstain from shopping - so I'll just borrow yours. OK? Great.

First I have to say great outfit, and I wish I could tan. Man you look so perfectly sun kissed. I don't try to but somehow a ton of my clothes are Old Navy, specifically jeans. I even thrift Old Navy stuff constantly. Their jeans just fit me well. I tend to thrift every single Style & Co thing I see, and anything Express. It's not even on purpose. I will pick up things, and they tend to be those brands. Other than that most of my clothes are all over the place from the thrift store.

So adorable, those shorts are the cutest things, ever! And I can't wait to see them re-mixed with tights + heels, sounds like such a dreamy outfit. Happy Friday hun! xx veronika

I love this too and I could totally see it with booties. I think booties with shorts and skirts is the difference between being in the '90s and the '00s. It's very modern.

Ohhh I definitely like to spread the shopping fun. I have to make a list or a write up a game plan before I go shopping if I want to be the most productive. Sometimes I just go to go though, and work in some retail therapy.

I love this outfit. Super relaxed but chic with the florals. I can't wait to be wearing shorts and mini skirts galore! You look great - the beach running has definitely been good to your legs :)

I totally agree about the booties! I also can't wait to rock these shorts with a blazer and oxfords.

Thanks, Veronika! I have to admit that some of my favorite pieces are ones that I like to wear in a very specific way, but these shorts? I have a million remix options floating around in my head...I just need to get my hands on all those clothes, shoes and handbags in storage!

You know, I often admire how well your jeans fit you. I have always had terrible luck with sizing at Old Navy!

I lived in Portland for six years, wishing for an H&M, and as luck would have it, one opened a month after I left! I know how you feel, Jessie!

Of course, you can borrow this one! You'll soon learn that my closet is your closet, amiga!

I knew you'd like this one...I mean, you did approve it in the dressing room...just before I started crying! :)

I definitely love to spread the shopping fun - go to one store, then another, come back, see what else I like. I don't like to buy on impulse! Big no-no..
This is my first visit to your blog and I couldn't have picked a better post. Loving the combination of the patterned shorts with the knitted top. I can only imagine how fab they looked with the heels!

Following you now, doll!

Ahhh I saw those shorts at H&m too with a matching shirt and coat. Gosh they would all look so pretty together. I usually shop at Buffalo Exchange and the likes because I can shop any season or trend!

I'll be visiting family in Mexico this summer, and while it's not near water...they always have a million mosquitoes! I'm ways a bumpy mess when I leave
